This weekend is the Got to Be NC Festival at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. This is a large, family-friendly event that features food, wine, and beer from across the state, farm animals and antique tractors, and farm equipment. The admission and parking are both free. As a feature of the Got to Be NC Festival, the Raleigh #500 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, a lodge organized under the Grand Lodge of North Carolina, is holding the Fifteenth Carolina Pig Jig on Saturday, May 21, 2022, beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until the food is gone.
The Pig Jig is a Masonic barbecue contest that brings together lodges from throughout North Carolina and surrounding states. The judges taste offerings from the three categories of pork, chicken, and sauce, and then award trophies for first, second, and third place. More importantly, all the money raised is donated to charity.
