If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about wine without feeling like you needed a sommelier certification to walk in the door, this is your kind of event.
Casual Conversations with Wine is happening Saturday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m. at (ish) delicatessen, the tucked-away gem inside Person Street Pharmacy in downtown Raleigh.
Hosted by owner, sommelier, and chef Matt Fern and meetup organizer Joe Delmonico, this intimate tasting is designed to be educational, engaging, and — most importantly — approachable. Think guided tasting, casual Q&A, and real conversation, not intimidating wine jargon.

Now, here’s the insider scoop: based on the event discussion, it appears a waitlist is already forming.
But before you assume it’s sold out, message host Joe Delmonico. As we all know, weekend plans are… fluid. There’s a very real chance you’ll find yourself moving off the waitlist and into a seat with a glass in hand. 😉
(ish), known for its “sort of Jewish, sort of Italian, sort of Southern” deli vibe, pairs its thoughtful food sensibility with a curated wine selection—making this the perfect setting for a relaxed deep dive. If you’ve been wine-curious but waiting for the right setting, this might be it.
