Learn to Frame Raleigh’s Skyline, Streets, and Hidden Corners Like a Pro on Saturday
You do not need a four-figure lens setup to capture the City of Oaks like a seasoned gallery artist.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, local visual artist Ana Galizes is leading a hands-on urban photography workshop at Artspace that strips away the intimidation of high-end camera gear. Whether you are shooting on an advanced DSLR or just the smartphone already in your pocket, this three-hour session heads out into Downtown Raleigh to explore framing, perspective, scale, and composition.
You will practice capturing dynamic angles across local architecture, sidewalks, and everyday street details, turning a routine weekend walk into a cohesive personal photo collection. Just lace up comfortable walking shoes, charge your battery, and come ready to see our downtown grid through a whole new lens.

Thursday: Skip the Mall Chaos, Support Local Makers, and Knock Out Your Holiday List
Ready to start checking off your gift list before the Thanksgiving turkey even thaws? Here’s a great chance!
Starting on Thursday, Nov. 5, the 52nd annual Visions of Sugarplums Holiday Art & Gift Show returns to North Raleigh for three full days of stress-free shopping. Tucked away just off Millbrook Road at the Quail Hollow Swim Club, this long-running neighborhood tradition brings together one-of-a-kind handcrafted treasures, seasonal decor, and artisan goods created by local women-owned businesses.
It is the antidote to crowded big-box stores—a relaxed, community-first marketplace where you can find thoughtful, unique presents for everyone on your list and still be back in time for dinner.

Friday Five: Haunted Vibes, Crisp Pours, and Western Wake Exploration… 🕸
Peak October has officially settled over the City of Oaks, bringing that irresistible urge to pull on a favorite sweater and get outside. The weekend serves up prime spooky-season energy across the area with early costume debuts, outdoor sips, and serious bargain hunting. The momentum doesn’t stop at the Beltline, either. I’m tracking eerie after-dark tours, four-legged costume contests, and easy visits out to Western Wake for haunted game nights and hands-on workshops.
