If your week felt like a marathon, consider this the finish line with a view.
First Friday is back to reclaim the sidewalks of Downtown Raleigh, and this month, the Morning Times Cafe is serving up more than just caffeine. On Friday, April 3, 2026, documentary photographer Thomas Way debuts his solo exhibition, Oak City Street, in the shop’s upper gallery.
Way has spent over a decade acting as Raleigh’s unofficial visual biographer, documenting the “decisive moments” of our shifting urban landscape. From the grit of Fayetteville Street to the quiet portraits of the people who make this city hum, it’s a raw, unvarnished look at the place we call home. Grab a double espresso, climb the stairs, and see if you can spot a younger version of your favorite street corner.

It’s the perfect excuse to act sophisticated while actually just being there for the people-watching and the pastry. See you in the gallery!
