State, and that means the 24th Annual Birdhouse Competition is returning to the JC Raulston Arboretum on Saturday, April 25, 2026. This isn’t just a collection of hobbyist kits; it’s a full-blown showcase of garden art where local builders, artists, and nature lovers push the boundaries of avian real estate. From whimsical fairy cottages to sleek, sustainable designs, the creativity on display turns the arboretum’s pathways into the most exclusive neighborhood in Raleigh.

Whether you’re there to scout inspiration for your own backyard or to marvel at the craftsmanship of the competitors, it’s a perfect excuse to wander through the blooms at the JCRA. The competition kicks off at 10 a.m., giving you plenty of time to vote for your favorites before the afternoon heat settles in.
