Friday Five: Cool Down + Up the Fun This Weekend
Fall, is that you? We’re in what some call “false fall,” aka one of North Carolina’s actual 13 seasons (IYKYK). Since no one knows how long the cool weather will actually last, it’s best to not question the gorgeous temps and spend as much time outside as possible. Here are some upcoming events that’ll get you out of the house!
But First… Go Nuts for Aunt Ruby’s Peanuts 🥜
In honor of National Peanut Day Friday, Sept. 13, we are giving away not one, but two (!) sampler boxes from Aunt Ruby’s Peanuts, an NC-based family-owned and operated biz specializing in Virginia-style nuts. The sampler box includes three 12 oz. tins of the Roasted Redskins, Country Style, and Honey Roasted peanuts. Trust us, you’ll go *nuts* for them!
You’ll Love the Rocks That We Got 🥃
Belly up to Devolve, Raleigh’s rock bar, on Thursday, Sept. 12, for a bourbon tasting hosted by Raleigh Weekend’s own founder Lisa Jeffries Nobling, and KC O’Dea, host of Raleigh’s No. 1 morning radio show on 106.1 FM TALK. You’ll taste your way through four whiskey selections from across the country while snacking on light bites from local restaurant partners. Bottoms up!
Hop to It: Hopscotch Is This Weekend! 🎶
Hopscotch, Downtown Raleigh’s fave music/comedy festival is continuing this weekend, Friday, Sept. 6, and Saturday, Sept. 7! This year’s lineup includes St. Vincent, Faye Webster, Waxahatchee, The Jesus Lizard, Joe Pera, and many more. Don’t have tickets? Lots of venues across the city are also hosting free day parties and late-night events. Let the music play!
A Hole-in-One Way to Spend the Weekend ⛳️
ICYMI, Hop Shots, a new putt-putt course by Hibernian Hospitality Group, is now open behind Raleigh Beer Garden on Glenwood Avenue! The concept offers 18 holes of mini-golf, plus other outdoor activities like ping pong, cornhole, and foosball—not to mention RBG’s 386 beers and food menu are available. Swing by seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Get Down to Live Music at Vidrio 💃🕺
Head to Vidrio’s bar in Downtown Raleigh every Wednesday night for live music. A lineup of local musicians set the vibe for handcrafted cocktails and Mediterranean-inspired bites like flatbreads, meats and cheeses, hummus, and more. Talk about the perfect pairing!
In the Center of the Ring Just Like a Circus 🎡
Alexa, play “Circus” by Britney Spears—because the Carolina Circus Festival is coming to Downtown Cary Park on Saturday, Sept. 14! The four-year-old fest features aerial, ground acrobatics, fire, and LED shows, as well as an arts market, food trucks, workshops, games and crafts, and a silent auction. How ~lit.~
