Did you know you can tell us about events you think we should know about!? We love hearing about the things that our readers love—like the ‘DAYDREAMS’ solo exhibition of photography by Baxter Miller that is opening tonight, Friday, June 3, at 5:30 p.m. at Charlotte Russell Contemporary! The opening reception is free and everyone is invited.
Hang Out Downtown on Saturday
It’s a busy Saturday in Downtown Raleigh! Start the day off at the Glitter Ball Pride Month Drag Brunch at the Raleigh Beer Garden at noon—Queens, drink features, food specials, a drag show, and more! Tickets are on sale now but going fast.
Also starting at noon is Raleigh’s Sixth International Food Festival. The event runs until 10 p.m. 30 countries will be represented and there will be food, desserts, wine, beer, dancing, and music. Admission is free.
Don’t Miss Community Day on Saturday, June 11
We are not wishing June away but we want to go ahead and get this event on your calendar! The No Woman, No Girl Initiative is hosting its inaugural Community Day on Saturday, June 11! Community Day will be filled with free food, small businesses, music, health assessments, and fun.
Friday Five: FYI Mother’s Day is Sunday
I do not know who needs to hear this (maybe my husband 😉) but this Sunday is Mother’s Day! As the resident mom at Raleigh Weekend, I feel like it is my duty to help spread the word and let you know about a few events for moms that are happening this weekend.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there—moms, grannies, stepmoms, foster moms, those who have lost their mom, dog moms, and everything in between. 💕
But First… Did You Know It’s American Cheese Month?
That’s right, this weekend might be all about mom but this month is all about cheese—and we are here for it! To celebrate that yellow goodness that we all know and love, we are giving away a $25 Grazin’ Gals Gift Card. Enter by Tuesday, May 31, at 11:59 p.m. to be eligible to win!
P.S. A charcuterie board from Grazin’ Gals would make a great Mother’s Day gift!
Take Mom to Shop for Mother’s Day
Why wait until Sunday to shower your mom with love? Get the fun started on Saturday, May 7, at the Pop-Up Market at Compass Rose Brewery. There will be local artists, live music, food trucks, and more! Bring mom, the kids, the pups—there is something for everyone!
Mother’s Day Brunch Ideas
What is better than a MOMosa and brunch on Mother’s Day? 🍾 Reservations are going fast and some places are already booked, but there is still time to secure a nice spot for you and mom this weekend. We recommend checking out Triangle on the Cheap’s list of brunch spots for $35 or under per person.
Two of My Favorite Things in One Mother’s Day Event
McCormick Creations LLC is hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch + Live Music Concert at the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills on Sunday, May 8, starting at 2 p.m. There will be live performances by national recording artist Blanche McAllister-Dykes, The Napper Singers, and The Mack BAND.
