Happy hot, humid weekend! Despite the fact that the world is on fire (aka dealing with a major heat wave), it’s summer and I feel like I should be outside—or at least keep myself occupied with fun activities. If you need some inspiration for what to do this weekend, here are five fun things going on around town!

Buy some peanuts and Cracker Jacks but let us handle the tickets! This month, we are giving away a pair of tickets to either a Carolina Mudcats game or a Durham Bulls game. Even if you aren’t a die-hard baseball fan, this is a great way to spend a summer evening outdoors and cheer on our home teams.

The 28-acre Juniper Level Botanic Garden will be open to the public for the last time this summer July 21–23! The garden has one of the top five plant collections in the U.S., featuring exotic and rare plants, mixed in with native NC flora and fauna. Don’t delay, as the garden won’t be open again until the fall!
Get Down With Your Bad Self at Killjoy’s Anniversary Bash 💃🕺
Party all day and all night at Killjoy’s Throwback Prom on Saturday, July 22, in honor of the Downtown bar’s third anniversary. There will be free cocktail samples and drink specials, a bitters booth, DJs, a photo station, and more special surprises.
~Lego~ to the Art of the Brick
The best-known LEGO® art exhibition in the world is currently being held in Raleigh at Pleasant Valley Promenade! Get tickets to see how artist Nathan Sawaya transformed over a million LEGO® bricks into 90+ sculptures, including an enormous T-Rex, human figures, and reimagined versions of art pieces like Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” and Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa.”
Come on Barbie, Let’s Go Party
Hit the runway and channel that Kenergy at Fenton on Saturday, July 22, via its Pink Party & Fashion Show! Fenton Square will be transformed into Barbie’s Dream House, complete with face painting, snacks, a photo booth, and jams from Pulse FM’s Matt Murphy. Come dressed as your favorite Barbie or Ken for a chance to win a prize!
Show Your Support to NC Dairy Farmer Randy Lewis
Following Ran-Lew Dairy farmer Randy Lewis’ literal run-in with a bull in May (which resulted in a plethora of injuries), local chefs, farmers, brewers, distributors, and media have partnered together to host an event at Craften in Knightdale on Sunday, July 23, to raise funds for his recovery. There will be food and desserts from chefs throughout the state, as well as a makers market, live music, outdoor games, and more.
