Calling all bookworms (and those who like to pretend to read but really just drink—no judgment)! Killjoy’s Come Read w/ Me Book Club kicks off Tuesday, Jan. 28. This installment’s book is “Before I Let Go” by Kennedy Ryan. There will be a discussion—plus snacks and music. Who said book club had to be boring?!
Finish Out Dry January Strong
Good news if you’re doing Dry Jan: You’re *almost* finished! There’s exactly one week of January left, and there are still plenty of great mocktail and other nonalcoholic beverage options around town we’re sure you haven’t tried yet. Sip away—you’ve got this!
Wine Down at Foxcroft 🍷
Now if you’re *not* doing Dry January, you have no excuse not to try out North Hills’ newest wine bar, restaurant, and bottle shop, Foxcroft! In addition to 40+ wines by the glass (not to mention wine flights and hundreds of bottles), the location also features scratchmade dishes like pasta and flatbread, monthly wine events, and wine tastings. I mean, ~wine~ not go immediately?
Pour It Up + Pair It Up 🥃
Grab your whiskey glasses and head to Whiskey Kitchen for its paired dinner with Glenmorangie scotch on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Each of the five featured whiskeys will be complemented by a dish inspired by traditional Scottish flavors—think mini potato blinis, a leek tart, and smoked sea bass.
Thursday Night Lights 🏒
The Carolina Hurricanes are crushing it this season, ranking second in the Metropolitan Division (heyo!). Go cheer the Bunch of Jerks on at their next home game Thursday, Jan. 30, against the Chicago Blackhawks (ranked last in the Central Division 👀). Hopefully they’ll blow them back to the Windy City!

Elevating Schools, Empowering Communities, Honoring Legacy: Activate Good Dignity Week
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is more than a federal holiday—it’s a call to action. While MLK Day is officially observed on the third Monday of January, Activate Good amplifies this day of service into Dignity Week: a week-long opportunity, Friday, Jan. 17 to Saturday, Jan. 25, to honor Dr. King’s legacy by addressing pressing needs in the Greater Triangle’s most underserved neighborhoods.
This year, their eLOVEate Schools projects take center stage. These projects support Title 1 schools in Wake County with beautification, essential resources, and community engagement. They focus on creating welcoming environments where students and educators can thrive.
They are offering nearly a dozen volunteer opportunities across the Triangle in partnership with local community organizations. See how you can get involved!
