Do you feel that? It’s the holiday spirit! While Buddy the Elf said the best way to spread Christmas cheer is for singing loud for all to hear, we think the cheer can also be spread through festive events. Here, your roundup of five fun festivities leading up to the holidays.
But First… Get on a Roll
This month, we are giving away a $25 gift card to Sushi O! The hot spot is known for its vibrant mix of Thai, Chinese, and Japanese flavors—from creative rolls to noodle soups to curry and stir-fried noodles. Enter by Tuesday, Dec. 31, for your chance to win!
For the (Gilmore) Girls ☕️
If you’re out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold (iykyk!), head to Apex for its Christmas in Stars Hollow celebration on Saturday, Dec. 21. Several local businesses will be participating in the themed day, from a pop-up coffee shop at WanderBee Coffee Co to a DIY Christmas earrings bar at Lauren Likes Jewelry to Rory’s Bookshelf—not to mention trivia, vintage vendors, and more. Be sure to wear your coziest sweater!
Get that (Ginger)bread
Flex your creativity at The BalloonZ Shop + The Teal. Hauz’s Gingerbread House Decorating Party on Saturday, Dec. 21! Craft your perfect sweet abode with icing, candies, and festive decorations while getting in the holiday spirit.
Get ~Lit~ in Downtown Raleigh
Illuminate Art Walk is back in DTR now through Monday, Jan. 6, and it promises to be both merry and bright! The art- and light-filled winter wonderland features installations across the city, with this year’s highlight an interactive 100-foot mirrored LED structure dubbed The TUNNEL that allows patrons to control colors, patterns, speed, and more. Let there be light, indeed!
Party With St. Nick 🎅
Santa, I know him! Get in the holiday spirit via St. Nick’s Christmas House, a nontraditional pop-up bar experience featuring themed rooms, fun decor, and festive drinks. Open now through Sunday, Jan. 12, the holly jolly pop-up located in a historic house near Moore Square also boasts regular events like open mic night, comedy night, karaoke, and live music.
Light Up the Night 🎆
Say goodbye to 2024 and hello to 2025 at the annual WRAL First Night Raleigh, taking place New Year’s Eve in DTR! Festivities begin at 2pm at City Plaza with live music and a children’s celebration, followed by more activities and musical performances throughout multiple indoor venues—and culminating with the famous Acorn Drop and fireworks show.
