There is something incredibly soul-soothing about peering behind the garden gates of Raleigh’s most storied historic homes. This weekend, step back in time at the Isabelle Bowen Henderson Home & Garden Tour on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Tucked away on Lot No. 2 in the historic Oberlin Village, this Raleigh Historic Landmark is a hidden treasure that beautifully weaves together Black history, preservation advocacy, and fine art. You’ll have the rare opportunity to explore the home’s famous collection of Jugtown pottery and wander through the gardens that have served as a muse for local creatives for decades.
This isn’t just a solo stroll; Preservation North Carolina staff will be on hand to dive into the site’s deep roots, and Raleigh author Heather Leah will be on-site signing copies of her latest book, Lost Towns of North Carolina. The first timed-entry block has already sold out, so you’ll want to jump on the remaining tickets to see the garden in all its mid-April glory.

Keep an eye on the high tree canopy—apparently, there’s a family of owls that calls this estate home. Talk about high-profile neighbors!
