If you like your beer like you like the February forecast in NC (read: cold), you’re gonna wanna head to Raleigh Beer Garden for its Big Frosty Beer Festival on Saturday, Feb. 4! There will be more than two dozen breweries offering samples of over 50 beers, ciders, and ginger brews—plus food and live music from Mysti Mayhem & Pam McCarthy. Sounds pretty cool, right?!
Doughnut Stop Believing 🍩
5 miles. 12 doughnuts. 1 hour. The annual Krispy Kreme Challenge is back Saturday, Feb. 4! The student-run charity race benefiting UNC Children’s Hospital requires participants to run from the Memorial Belltower on NC State’s campus to the Krispy Kreme on the corner of Peace and Person Streets, consume a dozen original glazed doughnuts, then run the 2.5 miles back to the Belltower. Think you have the guts to compete?!
Later, Sk8r 🛹
Calling all sk8r boys and girls! Skate Raleigh is hosting a pop-up skatepark at Moore Square on Sunday, Feb. 5, complete with amps, boxes, and rails. Skateboarders, rollerbladers, scooters, and spectators alike are invited to join in on the fun! P.S. BYOH (bring your own helmet).
Fuel the Funnies Via Neptunes Comedy
Local comedy geniuses Spencer Bland and Jordan Scott Huggins are back bringing the laughs to Neptunes with the first installment of their monthly Neptunes Comedy show on Sunday, Feb. 5! The lineup includes Brandi Roberts, Devon Roberts, and Justin Scranton. Get ready for a night of laughter!
Friday Five: It’s Only Cold if You’re Standing Still… ❄️
… So grab your coat and head out for these *cool* events going on around Raleigh this weekend! I know it’s cold out there (and, I, for one, hate the cold more than anything) and a lazy weekend cuddled up on the couch under a blanket might be your go-to winter plan, but hear me out—these happenings are worth getting bundled up and leaving the house for. Without further ado, here’s your Friday Five. Stay warm, friends!
But First… Get Ready for Takeoff!
Sassool has teamed up with local businesses to create a Triangle Food Passport with offers from 12 different restaurants, cafes, grocers, coffee shops, and ice cream shops. With the purchase of this passport, these participating establishments invite diners to redeem each offer and receive a “stamp” on their passports. The passports are $25 and can be purchased online but we are giving away one for free this month! Register via the link below for your chance to win!
Have the *First* Laugh at the New Goodnights
The (comedy) shows must go on—and on they will at Goodnights Comedy Club’s new permanent location in the Village District, which is now officially open! Kicking off the iconic laugh house’s first weekend are comedians Anthony Jeselnik and Kelsey Cook. Get ready for some giggles!
Basement Beats + Drinks 🎶
Another Raleigh fave, Neptunes, has reopened! The subterranean bar in downtown is back to slinging drinks Thursday–Sunday nights. And head down for DJ nights Fridays and Saturdays! See you there this weekend?!
