Anthony Scalabrino grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and earned his undergraduate degree in Information Technology and commissioned as a Naval Pilot from the United States Naval Academy in 2010. Anthony spent the first part of his career as a P-3C Orion pilot in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, then spent two and a half years as an Instructor for Naval ROTC Unit North Carolina State University where he received his Master’s in Computer Networks and founded Oak City Amaretto.
Oak City Amaretto’s recipe is a twist on Anthony’s Grandma Scalabrino’s original Sicilian amaretto recipe. As a daughter of Sicilian immigrants, his grandmother learned to adapt to and quickly adopt American culture. The recipe was a part of the Sicilian traditions that her family maintained.
In this remote interview, Anthony shares with Lisa Jeffries and Tara Pupilli of Raleigh Weekend some of his favorite ways to enjoy this special made-in-Raleigh product and where you can find it locally!
