We’re back! After a few months’ hiatus (our main girl Tara was on maternity leave and this baby had to take a backseat to her new babe), we’re excited to return with a fresh take on our weekly guide to enjoying all this city has to offer us. Each week, we’ll bring you five things we’re into for the upcoming week. Here’s to raising a glass to all things Raleigh… Weekend!
Friday, Sep. 25 – 4 p.m.: Otra Vez Now Open in West Raleigh
Edwards Mill Bar & Grill has reopened as a chic new Southwest-inspired destination for foodies and cocktail tippers alike: Otra Vez. Currently open 4-9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 4-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday; days and hours of operation will continue to expand as the new restaurant gets its footing. The patio is going to be a perfect place to kick back and enjoy the fall weather this season, too.
Saturday, Sep. 26 – 7 30 p.m.: Marvel Trivia at Pourworks
Trivia Night is back at PourWorks! After careful consideration and research it is determined that Pourworks can resume limited service under NC Phase Two guidance. In-store capacity is limited to 20 customers, but they will offer indoor/outdoor trivia starting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday nights! (*Note: Happening on Saturday this week.) They will continue to follow 6-foot social distancing guidance and, of course, you should stay home if exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms!
Pourworks has a terrific selection of packaged beer, cider, and wines. Pourworks also offers growler service for any of the 14 draft beers or ciders on tap.
Saturday, Sep. 26 – 8 p.m.: BLOOMHERE Presents “Teaching Social Justice From the Stage”

Support phenom local non-profit BLOOMHERE when you purchase tickets to their Zoom event, an intimate conversation with Broadway star and musical theater lecturer Tyler McKenzie on curiosity and creativity in the new civil rights era. Tyler McKenzie (he/him/his) currently on dance faculty at Penn State University’s Musical Theatre Department, was last seen on stage in Hamilton the Musical. He is a Long Island native with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Carolina University.
Sunday, Sep. 27 – 12 p.m.: Brunch at The Brasserie
The Brasserie at Neuse River Brewing has been a Five Points neighborhood hot spot for some time now on the sly but after our five-star dining experience there for dinner on a whim a few weeks ago, I’ve been eyeing a chance to get by for brunch. Perhaps this will be the weekend…
Wednesday, Sep. 30 – 8 p.m.: Killjoy Cocktail Class Hosted by Nicole Gubitosi
Our team had the chance to serve as Nicole’s willing test subjects for her new hands-on cocktail classes at Glenwood South newcomer Killjoy and we’re pumped for y’all that she’s opening them to any and all 21+ ticketholders starting Wednesday, Sep. 30. We can’t wait to see your newly-honed pour skills!
