If your kids think the best part of a trip to RDU is watching the planes take off, I’ve got your Saturday morning dialed in…
The City of Raleigh Museum is taking flight for its latest Family Fun Day. On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the museum will explore North Carolina’s legendary history of aviation with a hands-on event perfect for future pilots. It’s a great way to sneak a little local history into their weekend without them even realizing they’re “learning” on a day off.
Tucked away in the historic Briggs Hardware building on Fayetteville Street, this event keeps things interactive with airplane-themed crafts and the ultimate photo op: posing with a cardboard plane. All supplies are provided, so you just have to show up and let their imaginations take wing. Plus, you’re right downtown, making it easy to grab a post-flight treat at Lucettegrace just a few doors down.

Clear the runway and get ready for takeoff—just try not to get too competitive with the paper airplane folding. See you in the cockpit!
