Late-Night Time Warps, Fishnets, and Cult Energy This Friday at The Rialto

By Leave a Comment

October in Raleigh just isn’t complete without a midnight pilgrimage to Five Points in fishnets and eyeliner.

Keep the “Rockytober” momentum rolling on Friday, Oct. 16, as local shadow cast The Low Down Cheap Little Punks brings “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” back to the historic Rialto Theatre. Whether you are a seasoned creature of the night who knows every call-back by heart or a first-timer experiencing the bedlam for the very first time, this October series is the Triangle’s quintessential immersive cult tradition.

Doors open at 11:30 p.m. ahead of the midnight showing, giving you plenty of time to grab a drink from concessions, pick up theater-approved prop bags, and stake out a good seat before the floor show takes over. It is rowdy, unapologetically campy, and hands-down one of the most electric community vibes you will find along Glenwood Avenue all spooky season.

📍 The Rialto Theatre – 1620 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27608
📅 Friday, Oct. 16 | 11:30 p.m. – 2 a.m.
💰 $11

Don’t dream it, be it—just remember to leave your squirt guns and uncooked rice at home. See you in the aisles ready to jump to the left!

Tour Jaw-Dropping Kitchens, Luxe Baths, and Triangle Dream Spaces Friday Through Sunday

Nothing fuels a weekend daydream quite like stepping inside brand-new, designer-furnished spaces.

From Friday, Oct. 16 through Sunday, Oct. 18, the Triangle Parade of Homes opens its doors for the final weekend of its annual showcase. It’s your last opportunity this season to scout standout properties, gather clever design ideas, and see work from top builders throughout the region. (Pro Tip: I got to preview 1813 Bennett Street by Revolution Homes while dropping off some marketing materials before the first parade weekend… it’s a beauty… go see it!)

Whether you are actively hunting for a new address, planning an upcoming renovation, or simply eager to admire statement kitchen islands and spa-worthy bathrooms, the entire tour is free and completely self-paced. Map out your favorite neighborhoods across the Triangle and explore as many showcase stops as you like.

Paint, Sip, and Carve Out Creative Vibes on Tuesday in Downtown Cary

A mid-week creative detour is often the exact reset your calendar needs.

Pack up a pumpkin from home and make the quick trek to South Academy Street on Tuesday, Oct. 20, for an evening of acrylics and pours at Vino & Tap. You supply the gourd, and local artist Taylor Varron provides the paintbrushes, palettes, and laid-back instruction to turn your front-porch decor into a bona fide autumn masterpiece.

While your colors dry, keep the inspiration flowing with a glass from their curated wine list, a bubbly champagne cocktail, or a fresh pint from the rotating craft beer draft wall. It’s an easy, low-pressure way to hang out with friends and soak up Downtown Cary’s cozy neighborhood charm.

📍 Vino & Tap – 307 S. Academy St., Cary, NC 27511
📅 Tuesday, Oct. 20 | 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Thursday Brings Big Jams, Gritty Riffs, and Rising Roots Rock to Kings

There is nothing quite like catching an explosive touring act in an intimate room before they start filling arenas. (My personal fave way to music.)

Mark your calendar for Thursday, Oct. 22, as The Fitzkee Brothers roll into downtown Raleigh for their debut performance at Kings. Joined by standout guitarist Jaden Lehman—who has performed and recorded with Oteil Burbridge—the rhythm powerhouse of brothers Drew and Alex Fitzkee delivers an intoxicating blend of vintage roots rock, deep funk grooves, and spontaneous jam sessions.

Having already shared stages with legends like George Clinton and logged festival miles from Jam Cruise to Baygrass, this young power trio plays with the grit and polish of seasoned road dogs. It’s a prime excuse to post up on Martin Street, grab a drink, and dive into an evening of high-voltage musicianship.

📍 Kings – 14 W. Martin St., Raleigh, NC 27601
📅 Thursday, Oct. 22 | Doors at 7 p.m., Music at 8 p.m.
💰 $15 in advance, $20 day-of

Crisp autumn air has finally landed in the City of Oaks, making staying at home a total missed opportunity. This week, I’ve got five can’t-miss local events guaranteed to kick your fall routine into high gear. Whether you are craving craft brews with pumpkin carving, big outdoor concerts for local causes, or an open-air sound bath in Midtown, here’s this weekend’s lineup.

Friday Night Brews, Spooky Views, and Pumpkin Carving at Trophy

Few things beat ushering in autumn with a crisp draft beer in hand and pumpkin guts under your fingernails.

Continue leaning into spooky season on Friday, Oct. 9, at Trophy Brewing on Maywood Avenue for a cozy evening of squash-slashing fun. They are serving up special Halloween-themed cocktails and playing classic spooky movies in the background to set the perfect fall mood.

Every ticket includes one pumpkin and access to carving tools, though supplies are limited, so arriving on time is smart. Best of all, adult tickets come with a fresh Trophy draft beer to fuel your artistic masterpiece.

📍 Trophy Brewing – 656 Maywood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27603
📅 Friday, Oct. 9 | 5:30–8 p.m.
💰 $13 for adults, $10 for children
