My sincere thanks to the nearly 300 YouTubers who have already answered my call to help me garner thumbs-up nods of approval for The Borrow Bar! I am competing for up to $30,000 in seed funding in the SBCN Start Up Showdown, and you can help: part of our total judging score comes from public “Likes” on each startup’s live pitch video on YouTube. Here’s mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2oMZbTOw8Q. Thank you for watching, cheering me on, and hitting that thumbs-up button!
Take a Saturday Stroll With Purpose at Historic Pullen Park
There’s a good chance you know a mama who experienced a scary bout with preeclampsia during pregnancy, and few things beat a brisk morning stroll around Pullen Park, so let’s lace up our sneakers together this weekend… especially when every step supports Triangle families. 👟

This family-friendly gathering brings together local survivors, healthcare professionals, and neighbors to raise vital awareness for preeclampsia and other hypertensive pregnancy disorders.
Whether you assemble a walk team, sign up as an individual, or simply drop by to learn, the morning centers on honoring resilient mothers, supporting vital research, and building a stronger community safety net across Wake County.

Friday Five: Laughs, Frights, Magic, and Zen in the Oak City
Who needs to leave town for the long holiday weekend? From serene garden yoga and spooky tours to big-stage laughs and acrobatic park hangs, this week’s curated lineup offers a wild mix of local adventures. Clear off your calendar, grab a friend, and get ready to experience Raleigh this week/end.
But First… Could I Trouble You for a Thumbs Up?
I love dropping into your inboxes every Friday morning to share the very best of what Raleigh has to offer. Usually, this spotlight space is reserved for highlighting beautiful local properties, weekend getaways, or community giveaways, from partners who help underwrite the costs delivering Raleigh Weekend to you. Today, however, I am stepping out of my comfort zone to turn the spotlight onto a new project of my own—and I need your help!
For the past two years, I have been quietly developing a new local business called The Borrow Bar. It is a membership-based service offering access to high-end household and hosting goods. Think stand mixers, margarita machines, and outdoor movie projectors—giving you access over ownership and convenience without the clutter.
After months of hard work and winning my category at the Wake Tech Blueprint to Skyline competition, I pitched the concept to a panel of “Shark Tank”-style judges for the statewide SBCN Start Up Showdown. Out of over 300 applicants, The Borrow Bar was selected as one of the top 16 finalists to compete for up to $30,000 in startup funding!
Now, the 5th and final judge is YOU.
This funding would give The Borrow Bar the runway it needs to launch our limited 50-member beta this month and fully roll out for the Q4 holiday hosting season.
Here is how you can help a local business win in less than 10 seconds:
Visit https://youtu.be/O2oMZbTOw8Q to watch my official 10-minute pitch video on YouTube. (Cringe! I still haven’t brought myself to watch it. I lived it, haha, that was enough!)
The Important Part:
Give the video a “Thumbs Up” (Like)!
Every single “Like” before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, counts as an official community vote toward my final score.
Thank you for being such an incredible, supportive community of readers for the past decade, and for cheering me on during this next big entrepreneurial leap. I can’t wait to share The Borrow Bar with you soon!
